Title Director - Health Care Policy
Description Incumbent will serve as the point person for health care policy issues in the client's Government Affairs International office; be the key liaison for internal customers with European based governmental and non-governmental organizations; review and analyse key EU health care policy issues and provide information to internal customers; develop, obtain approval of and implement a proactive health care policy in Europe and coordinate efforts across the business to advance the company's stated policy objectives.


  • Report to the VP, Government Affairs International
  • Provide strategic input and guidance to the organization on European health care policy issues and their potential impact on the company.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with internal customers to develop and implement the client's proactive policy agenda on EU health care issues.
  • Coordinate activities with internal company business units and manage the development of comments to regulations and legislation.
  • Review and analyse reports, articles and presentations from governmental and non-governmental agencies for potential impact to operations and strategic objectives.
  • Support internal customers by tracking policy issues and providing regular trend reports with regards to the company's stated policy objectives.
  • Advocate in support of the European health care policy agenda with the European Parliament, appropriate DG offices, industry organizations and other non-governmental entities.
  • Serve as the liaison to EU policy makers and influencers on issues of health care policy that are the priorities for the client's International operations.
  • Serve as the liaison to industry and trade associations on health care policy issues to ensure that positions are in line with the client's objectives.


  • Highly motivated individual with considerable experience working with internal customers and external influencers to achieve tactical and strategic results.
  • Exhibit a mastery of current EU health care policy issues and the EU legislative process.
  • Demonstrated success in working with the European Parliament, appropriate DG offices, and non-governmental agencies/organizations to negotiate or facilitate desired outcomes.
  • Well connected with key decision makers and influencers in the European health care and legislative environments and easily develop new contacts.
  • A proven record of writing for the commercial and legislative environments.
  • Use appropriate level of assertiveness and diplomacy when dealing with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Team oriented, able to work well with other departments and comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment characterised by rapid change.


Bachelor's degree required. Master's or equivalent degree preferred.
